I recently ran into an issue where I was unable to add basic authentication to a Sitecore site – and the fix for it turned out to have nothing to do with Sitecore at all. Adding basic authentication through IIS is easy (usually) – disable anonymous authentication and enable/configure basic authentication. I just pushed an update to my small code generation for Sitecore Unicorn package on NuGet. Version 0.2 is now built against the latest Rainbow 1.4 and also uses the official Sitecore NuGet feed for build an in the T4 templates. Check it out on NuGet.org here.
